The Falcons cashed the board's mistake on Skattebo: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Cam Skattebo had no business being available in the 190th overall pick, and the Falcons did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If Griffith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Falcons clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mike Green
In pick No. 15 they get juice off the edge at fair value.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at pick 46 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the 49th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick117
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the 170th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick171
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 32 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick190
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
Steal is underselling it; Cam Skattebo at No. 190 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at slot 215 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at Round 7, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
