Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Browns let Paul Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a D-.

There is reaching, and then there is Donovan Jackson at pick No. 33. The Browns jumped the board by 53 and dared it to prove them wrong. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

The Paul Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In slot 2 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick15 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 33rd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers in No. 67 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94 Rnd3 Savion Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Savion Williams at pick 94, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick102 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 102nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick133 Rnd4 Elijah Arroyo
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Elijah Arroyo in Round 4, Pick 32, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick163 Rnd5 Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. at slot 163 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick177 Rnd6 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in No. 177 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick190 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
They robbed the room for Smael Mondon Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick198 Rnd6 Addison West
They paid sticker price for Addison West in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
