Draft Grade — Texans
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The phones sank the Texans this weekend: C+.

Somebody took the Texans to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. If Simpson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The Booker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
The board had cheaper options than T'Vondre Sweat at slot 45, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 62nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick78 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick123 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in Round 4, Pick 23 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jaylin Simpson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylin Simpson well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylen Wright in the 157th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168 Rnd5 Austin Booker
Austin Booker in pick No. 168 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
