Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers let Smith fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Tykee Smith tumbling to the Packers in No. 168 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end and interior defensive lineman still on the board. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Bortolini reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at the 33rd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper slipping to No. 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick88
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cade Stover
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 3 slot on Cade Stover with tight end and interior defensive lineman unsolved.
Pick102
Rnd4
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at pick No. 102 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in Round 5, Pick 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick168
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
They will replay Tykee Smith at the 168th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick204
Rnd6
Tanor Bortolini
They paid a round early for Tanor Bortolini in the 204th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick216
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
They took Garret Greenfield at par in the 216th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jordan Whittington
Jordan Whittington in the Round 7 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
