FutureA+
Vinson should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B-. The Packers lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They banked enough surplus on Vinson to cover a lot of smaller sins. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at pick No. 54 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick87
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton slid further than he should have, and pick 87 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
They let Jared Wilson come to them and pounced at the 123rd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
No drama and no debate, RJ Harvey went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick200
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at No. 200 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
The board fumbled Carson Vinson all the way to slot 239, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251
Rnd7
Clay Webb
Nothing to complain about; Clay Webb went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
