FutureB-
The Chiefs got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chiefs took Garrett Dellinger at the Round 7 slot, roughly 44 spots before his name belonged. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery is a better player than pick 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas slipping to pick No. 66 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick93
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Devin Neal
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Devin Neal at slot 95. The roster fit checks out.
Pick112
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
They paid sticker price for Billy Bowman Jr. in No. 112, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick131
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in pick 131 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick133
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the 133rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick184
Rnd6
Vernon Broughton
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Vernon Broughton. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at Round 7, Pick 10 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger at pick No. 251 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick257
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at No. 257 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
