The Patriots worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The cost of the Borregales reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Penei Sewell leading the way.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
