Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Malik Nabers at the 67th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Reaching for Eboigbe left real value on the table behind him.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 10th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick67 Rnd3 Malik Nabers
Steal is underselling it; Malik Nabers at pick 67 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick72 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Good price on Patrick Paul in pick No. 72, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A big swing on Brenden Rice at No. 75, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick78 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
They took Marshawn Kneeland at par in Round 3, Pick 14, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the 122nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick135 Rnd4 Dallin Holker
A premium they did not need to pay, Dallin Holker a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick185 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
No drama and no debate, Tanor Bortolini went about where he belonged in the 185th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
