The Saints lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Saints would have aced it. J.J. Weaver at the 216th overall pick is 179 spots clear of where he belonged.
Milroe at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
The Marquez Valdes-Scantling deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
