FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: A-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took Oluwafemi Oladejo a full 96 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Landing Gordon II that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jalon Walker and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
You do not let a linebacker like Jalon Walker reach Round 2, Pick 6 and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
Fair-plus on Jalen Royals, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker slipping to pick 77 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Denzel Burke graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick145
Rnd5
Oluwafemi Oladejo
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oluwafemi Oladejo. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in slot 219, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick222
Rnd7
Kobe Hudson
They read the board right and Kobe Hudson was the payoff at the 222nd overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick240
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
No drama and no debate, Seth McLaughlin went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
