Larceny in the Round 5 slot lands the Seahawks a C, Williams and all. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Seahawks, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
On value alone, Williams makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Zinter has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick46
Rnd2
Byron Murphy II
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 14 with a little surplus value in Byron Murphy II. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick58
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at the 58th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick78
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
They read the board right and Javon Bullard was the payoff at pick 78. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick81
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at slot 81 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in No. 86 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A straight-up fair deal on Sataoa Laumea at pick No. 122, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
James Williams
James Williams in the 154th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick159
Rnd5
Chau Smith-Wade
They took Chau Smith-Wade at par in Round 5, Pick 23, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No drama and no debate, Jared Wiley went about where he belonged in pick No. 194. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick236
Rnd7
Blake Watson
They barely believed it either: Blake Watson still on the board at No. 236. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
