FutureB-
Larceny in pick 236 lands the Seahawks a D-, Jones and all. Somebody took the Seahawks to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. If Zinter pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick62
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
A conviction pick on Payton Wilson at No. 62 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 74 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick78
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
The board had cheaper options than Zak Zinter at the 78th overall pick, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on McKinnley Jackson at slot 81, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at Round 4, Pick 22 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick154
Rnd5
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at slot 154 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No drama and no debate, Jared Wiley went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick236
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones at the 236th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
