Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The cost of the McMahon reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hadden.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick17 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In pick No. 17 they get juice off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A quiet steal in No. 51: Keon Coleman for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
A clean, defensible pick in pick 75 with a little surplus value in Blake Fisher. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
No edge and no loss on Isaac Guerendo in the 111th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Renardo Green slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 21 is lovely value for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick197 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in slot 197 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick238 Rnd7 Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon in the 238th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
