The 49ers robbed the room for Laube. Final grade: D+.

The phones were a trap the 49ers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Bertrand proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Laube pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Braden Fiske at slot 63 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Devontez Walker at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
