The 49ers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent pick No. 252 on Antario Brown, a name most had 126 spots down the list.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Andre Dillard deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
