Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Every board in the league had Knox lower, and that gap is the story.

That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Amegadjie value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 49 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

They paid up for Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.

They read the board right and Kiran Amegadjie was the payoff at the 81st overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.

Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at the 125th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
