Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers.

The Steelers torched the value chart for Jordan Whittington, taking him 38 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

Getting Legette where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In the 31st pick they get protection for the quarterback. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Value with a capital V on Xavier Legette in slot 51, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Kingsley Suamataia at offensive lineman with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 20, where Mike Sainristil graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Maason Smith in the 98th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119 Rnd4 Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
No drama and no debate, Ro Torrence went about where he belonged in the 178th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaylan Ford a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jordan Whittington
They reached a country mile for Jordan Whittington at Round 6, Pick 36, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
