Overall B-
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Seahawks bet the future on McCarthy. The board says B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Seahawks' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The cost of the McCarthy reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Fisher steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 J.J. McCarthy
In pick 16 they get the arm they will build around, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick81 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher slid further than he should have, and No. 81 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss in the 84th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick117 Rnd4 Andru Phillips
They took Andru Phillips at par in the 117th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at Round 4, Pick 19 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick151 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at pick No. 191 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones in slot 235 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
