Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a B weekend for the Commanders.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

Getting Coleman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Graham Barton slipping to pick 40 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick41 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
No drama and no debate, Ja'Tavion Sanders went about where he belonged in slot 41. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 T.J. Tampa
Value with a capital V on T.J. Tampa in the 67th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
Steal is underselling it; Adisa Isaac at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Circle this one: Jaden Hicks at the 88th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100 Rnd3 Andru Phillips
Somehow Andru Phillips was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 37, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Brandon Coleman
You do not let an offensive lineman like Brandon Coleman reach No. 139 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152 Rnd5 Erick All
They robbed the room for Erick All here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
