Good, not great, for the Steelers: B-.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent the 52nd pick on Kingsley Suamataia while safety, wide receiver and other spots sat unaddressed.

Reaching for Powers-Johnson left real value on the table behind him. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In slot 32 they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick52 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Kingsley Suamataia while clear needs at safety, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Pick64 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in slot 64; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick84 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
They paid sticker price for Marist Liufau in Round 3, Pick 20, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 95 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Darius Robinson at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in pick No. 121. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson in the 172nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick198 Rnd6 Rasheen Ali
A reach for Rasheen Ali in No. 198; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman in the Round 7 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
