Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
The Raiders checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

There is reaching, and then there is Kimani Vidal at the Round 7 slot. The Raiders jumped the board by 24 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Jacobs pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the 27th pick they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick52 Rnd2 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in pick No. 52 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
No edge and no loss on Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A reach for Dominick Puni in No. 77; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
They jumped the gun on Mohamed Kamara, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 138th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick148 Rnd5 Dwight McGlothern
They paid a round early for Dwight McGlothern in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jordan Travis
A clean, defensible pick in the 179th pick with a little surplus value in Jordan Travis. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick208 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs is a better player than No. 208 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick213 Rnd6 Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy at Round 6, Pick 38 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223 Rnd7 Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable at pick No. 223 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
They reached a country mile for Kimani Vidal at pick 229, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Owens this early at slot 235. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
