Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureB-
The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Gould: B. Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Seahawks sat still while Anthony Gould, the No. 142 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Wiley pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chris Braswell in No. 58. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick81
Rnd3
DJ James
Circle this one: DJ James at slot 81 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick102
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Good price on Brenden Rice in pick No. 102, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Nothing to complain about; Matt Goncalves went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Mekhi Wingo
They will replay Mekhi Wingo at the 128th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A tidy little value on Sataoa Laumea in pick 134, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144
Rnd5
James Williams
James Williams at the 144th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick179
Rnd6
Anthony Gould
Somehow Anthony Gould was still sitting there in slot 179, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick192
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A reach on Jared Wiley in pick No. 192; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick202
Rnd6
Fabien Lovett
Taking Fabien Lovett in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable in pick 235 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
