The Cowboys left with their quarterback, and a D to match.

The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Franklin. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
