Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
The Bengals let Winston Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

Somebody in No. 152 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Kevin Winston Jr., the No. 90 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Conner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Mike Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. More want than need.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
The board had Jihaad Campbell higher than pick 49, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Circle this one: Dylan Sampson at pick No. 81 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89 Rnd3 Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in Round 3, Pick 25, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117 Rnd4 Howard Cross III
A big swing on Howard Cross III at the 117th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the 152nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick191 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at No. 191 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
