Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Seahawks kept it disciplined and banked a B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Seahawks reached some 79 spots for Jackson Hawes, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They banked enough surplus on White III to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In No. 25 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value.
Pick52 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Ezeiruaku at Round 2, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Demetrius Knight Jr.
They paid sticker price for Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick 58, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick63 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at slot 63 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick82 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick92 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A tidy bit of business in the 92nd pick, where Andrew Mukuba graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Wilson at pick No. 95, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Logan Brown
They went early on Logan Brown in pick 137, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
They reached into another round for JJ Pegues, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick172 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
They took Quincy Riley at par in the 172nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jackson Hawes
A real head-scratcher, Jackson Hawes in the 175th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223 Rnd7 Mac McWilliams
Mac McWilliams at slot 223 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick234 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in No. 234 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ricky White III
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 20 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick241 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
The board had cheaper options than Ty Hamilton at pick No. 241, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
