Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a D to match.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jared Wiley in the 151st overall pick, a good 54 spots before the room expected him. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

That Nubin pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick18 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In No. 18 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 34th pick when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75 Rnd3 Tyler Nubin
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Tyler Nubin in the 75th overall pick, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They paid a round early for Darius Robinson in Round 4, Pick 10, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
You do not let a wide receiver like Jalen McMillan reach pick 122 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jared Wiley
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jared Wiley this early at No. 151. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick224 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in pick 224 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick236 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson at pick No. 236 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
