Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB+
Felton should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B+.

Somebody in Round 4, Pick 27 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Tai Felton, the No. 99 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 27th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in slot 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick51 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
A tidy little value on Landon Jackson in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at the 76th pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond is a better player than pick 86 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tai Felton
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tai Felton in Round 4, Pick 27, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jake Majors
The board had Jake Majors higher than pick No. 149, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick158 Rnd5 Nick Nash
A slide stopped in No. 158, with Nick Nash worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171 Rnd5 RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey at the 171st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
Pick174 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in slot 174 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176 Rnd5 Jake Briningstool
They did well to land Jake Briningstool in pick 176, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick191 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II slid further than he should have, and pick No. 191 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 6, Pick 21 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at No. 211 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick214 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
Good price on Caleb Ransaw in the 214th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick239 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Fair-plus on Bilhal Kone, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
CJ Dippre at the 247th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
