Draft Grade — Falcons

Grand theft in slot 199: the Falcons steal Hadden and grade out a B+. The board owed the Falcons one, and it paid up: Kamal Hadden, the No. 168 name on the board, sitting there at the 199th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In No. 24 they get an island corner at fair value. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at the 43rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick46
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in the 46th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick56
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Corley at pick 56 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74
Rnd3
Renardo Green
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Renardo Green. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick79
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
They paid sticker price for Marshawn Kneeland in slot 79, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in Round 4, Pick 9 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
No drama and no debate, Matt Goncalves went about where he belonged in pick No. 112. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick143
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick150
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
They took Luke McCaffrey at par in pick 150, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
They paid up for Tanor Bortolini at Round 5, Pick 38 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They went early on Joe Milton III in the 187th pick, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick199
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at slot 199 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick208
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Frank Gore Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick220
Rnd6
Myles Murphy
A straight-up fair deal on Myles Murphy at the 220th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick229
Rnd7
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at No. 229 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick246
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Taylor. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
