Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The Jaguars won the night they stopped Johnson from sliding. Grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Jaguars were there to profit. Tez Johnson, the No. 100 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 142. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Cooper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In pick 24 they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick36 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slipping to pick No. 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
No drama and no debate, Omarr Norman-Lott went about where he belonged in the 70th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A reasonable price with a little left over, Andrew Mukuba in the 88th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick97 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in slot 97 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
They paid up for Jacob Parrish at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Kobe King
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kobe King. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick142 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick182 Rnd6 Tyler Cooper
They jumped the gun on Tyler Cooper, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at pick No. 194 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick221 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
They paid sticker price for Robert Longerbeam in No. 221, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
