Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Cardinals. The needs board said one thing and the Cardinals did another, using pick No. 104 on Caelen Carson while quarterback, running back and other spots waited.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Mahogany reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Thomas Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 11th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In pick 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In No. 27 they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
They read the board right and Brian Thomas Jr. was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 3. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in the 66th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in slot 90, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104
Rnd4
Caelen Carson
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Caelen Carson, a cornerback that was not the priority.
