Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
D

FutureB+
Nix is the Broncos' new face under center. Grade: D. Somebody took the Broncos to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On value alone, Davis makes the weekend a net positive. The Thomas pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In slot 21 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick23
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In the 23rd overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton at pick No. 52 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick65
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
A tidy bit of business in No. 65, where Brandon Dorlus graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76
Rnd3
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in Round 3, Pick 12 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick84
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson slid further than he should have, and pick 84 is lovely value for the linebacker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
No drama and no debate, Leonard Taylor III went about where he belonged in the 113th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick149
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
A tidy little value on Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick157
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A straight-up fair deal on Kitan Oladapo at the 157th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick218
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
They will replay Isaiah Davis at Round 6, Pick 43 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick233
Rnd7
Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas at the 233rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick241
Rnd7
Demani Richardson
Demani Richardson at slot 241 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
