Draft Grade — Broncos

FutureA-
The phones sank the Broncos this weekend: D. The Jermayne Lole pick is the one that will follow the Broncos into the fall. They took him 44 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Put together, it is a D.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Jackson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end and offensive lineman. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Tampa value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 13th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick29
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In the 29th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick65
Rnd3
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in pick No. 65 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick76
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Junior Colson in No. 76 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick101
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Khyree Jackson at cornerback with tight end and offensive lineman open.
Pick122
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at slot 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
James Williams
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick149
Rnd5
Braelon Allen
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in No. 149; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233
Rnd7
Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia Tagovailoa at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick241
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
They reached into another round for DeMonte Capehart, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jermayne Lole
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jermayne Lole in the 250th overall pick, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
