The Broncos lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Broncos indulged a want in Abrams-Draine while a need in linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
