The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Roger Rosengarten, taking him 71 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Smith-Wade value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
