Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD- FutureA
The Patriots bet the future on Maye. The board says B-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

However the rest shakes out, Berger at that price is a win they earned. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In No. 5 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
They took Brenden Rice at par in pick No. 68, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in pick 103 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the 139th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick182 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at slot 182 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at the 224th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jalen Berger
Jalen Berger in Round 7, Pick 12 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
