Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B+.

The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for J.J. Weaver, 100 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

However the rest shakes out, Paul Jr. at that price is a win they earned. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Cowboys paired the rookies with proven help, Justin Jefferson leading the way.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick44 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick76 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Omarion Hampton in No. 76, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
They will replay Omarr Norman-Lott at pick No. 97 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
They barely believed it either: Kevin Winston Jr. still on the board at the 148th overall pick. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick168 Rnd5 Chris Paul Jr.
You do not let a linebacker like Chris Paul Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 31 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
A tight end of that caliber at slot 170 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A reach for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 173; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick186 Rnd6 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at No. 186 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Taking Ollie Gordon II in pick 209 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick248 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver at slot 248 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
