Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall C-
ValueB NeedA- TradesF FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Panthers to a C-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Panthers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Call it a C- and check back in two years.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Jefferson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

On value alone, Gould makes the weekend a net positive. The Panthers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick100 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at the 165th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick177 Rnd6 Anthony Gould
They read the board right and Anthony Gould was the payoff at No. 177. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
