The 49ers let Nolen fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Walter Nolen, the No. 21 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 2 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
