Larceny in the 130th pick lands the Vikings a B, Rattler and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Spencer Rattler had no business being available in pick 130, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B.
With tight end and interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 11th overall pick they get a true top target, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
They read the board right and Kamren Kinchens was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
Maason Smith
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with tight end and interior defensive lineman open.
Pick130
Rnd4
Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler at slot 130 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145
Rnd5
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in pick 145 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick157
Rnd5
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 21 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
They let Jaylin Simpson come to them and pounced at the 166th pick. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick179
Rnd6
Grayson Murphy
A tidy bit of business in No. 179, where Grayson Murphy graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227
Rnd7
Michael Wiley
Circle this one: Michael Wiley at the 227th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
