Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureB+
The Raiders let Walker fall into their laps, and walked away with a C.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jalon Walker tumbling to the Raiders in the Round 2 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A mixed bag that lands at C.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. With edge rusher and interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

They will need Pierce to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jihaad Campbell
In the 30th overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Fair-plus on Emeka Egbuka, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in pick No. 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in slot 39 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jalon Walker at linebacker with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open.
Pick67 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at Round 3, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick69 Rnd3 Darien Porter
They took Darien Porter at par in the 69th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick72 Rnd3 Trey Amos
Trey Amos in Round 3, Pick 8 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick108 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 108 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hollin Pierce. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
They paid sticker price for Jacob Parrish in the 119th pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and interior defensive lineman to take Billy Bowman Jr., a safety that was not the priority.
Pick143 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They went early on Bhayshul Tuten in slot 143, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
No drama and no debate, Luke Kandra went about where he belonged in No. 148. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Dont'e Thornton Jr. a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick180 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A reach for Oronde Gadsden II in slot 180; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick212 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Caleb Ransaw. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick213 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 213 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Hancock. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the 222nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick239 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in No. 239 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
