The Buccaneers won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B-. The Buccaneers torched the value chart for Chad Lindberg, taking him 127 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
The Jalen Ramsey deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
A.J. Harris
In No. 22 they get a lockdown presence outside, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at the Round 2 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp at Round 4, Pick 20 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at pick No. 161 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tony Grimes
A wild overpay on Tony Grimes in slot 200, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Chad Lindberg
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chad Lindberg. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
