Draft Grade — Giants

The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Emmanwori: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Giants watched Nick Emmanwori slide 46 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They are betting Lacy proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 3rd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in No. 34, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick65 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in the 65th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick99 Rnd3 Terrance Ferguson
A premium they did not need to pay, Terrance Ferguson a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at Round 4, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick158 Rnd5 Logan Brown
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Logan Brown in slot 158. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick219 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan in pick 219 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick246 Rnd7 Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at pick No. 246 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
