Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB+
The Steelers bled value on every deal, hence the D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Steelers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

The Carson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 7 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick31 Rnd1 Chris Braswell
In No. 31 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53 Rnd2 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Zach Frazier
A curious use of Round 3, Pick 4. Quarterback, running back and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Zach Frazier did not.
Pick85 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
By-the-book stuff, Marist Liufau at the 85th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
A reach for McKinnley Jackson in the 87th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at pick 103 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at slot 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick121 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in Round 4, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at No. 177 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The roster fit checks out.
Pick199 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Nice patience on Michael Barrett, who had no business lasting to the 199th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick228 Rnd7 Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at pick 228 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick242 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Matthew Jones for less than the market said. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
