Grand theft in the Round 4 slot: the Titans steal Ewers and grade out a A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Titans should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They banked enough surplus on Ewers to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They are betting Parrish proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Adding Dak Prescott by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In slot 12 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
Somehow Tetairoa McMillan was still sitting there in pick No. 35, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Savaiinaea. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at No. 76 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at the 103rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick120
Rnd4
Quinn Ewers
They barely believed it either: Quinn Ewers still on the board at pick 120. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
Jah Joyner at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at the 167th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens in the 178th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick188
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Dont'e Thornton Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
