It is a puzzling start. The Lions had cornerback, offensive lineman and other spots to solve and reached instead for Tyler Davis, an interior defensive lineman, at pick 93.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. They will need Johnson Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
