The Titans turned the phones into found money: A-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Titans started one anyway for Collin Oliver, 57 picks ahead of schedule.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Emmanwori. The Parrish pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and linebacker still on the board.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, with Matthew Golden leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the 35th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick45
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick51
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tate Ratledge. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick57
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
A reach for Maxwell Hairston in slot 57; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick85
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
They paid a round early for Ashton Gillotte in pick 85, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
A slide stopped in the 103rd pick, with Jalen Milroe worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 4, Pick 15 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Jacob Parrish while clear needs at interior defensive lineman and linebacker sat open.
Pick136
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick No. 136 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick151
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They did well to land Logan Brown in slot 151, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 175, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick197
Rnd6
Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick218
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards slid further than he should have, and the 218th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at pick No. 227 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick232
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
By-the-book stuff, Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick234
Rnd7
Collin Oliver
A big swing on Collin Oliver at pick 234, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
