FutureA-
The Titans let Mondon Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a C+. The board owed the Titans one, and it paid up: Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 98 name on the board, sitting there at the 176th pick like a gift left on the doorstep.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Howard pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Hit on James Pearce Jr. and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
They let Emeka Egbuka come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 3. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick 44 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick46
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach the 46th pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick101
Rnd3
Will Howard
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Will Howard. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 140th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in slot 166, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick176
Rnd6
Smael Mondon Jr.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to No. 176, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A conviction pick on Garrett Dellinger at pick 239 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
