Draft Grade — Titans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Titans robbed the room for Sampson. Final grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Titans were there to profit. Dylan Sampson, the No. 52 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 144. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They are betting Jones Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
They went early on Jalen Milroe in No. 37, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick108 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at the 108th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in pick 133 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at slot 144 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167 Rnd5 Barion Brown
A wild overpay on Barion Brown in pick No. 167, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Deontae Lawson
They robbed the room for Deontae Lawson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick243 Rnd7 Gunnar Helm
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Gunnar Helm in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
