Draft Grade — Titans
Overall D-
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Titans found their guy under center in Nussmeier: D-.

Nobody had Kyren Lacy this high, and it is not close. The Titans reached 75 spots to get him at the 144th pick. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Whatever Garrett Nussmeier becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.

Getting Hill where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Garrett Nussmeier
In slot 20 they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him.
Pick37 Rnd2 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in No. 37 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick51 Rnd2 Abdul Carter
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Abdul Carter. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in pick No. 60 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106 Rnd4 Barion Brown
Barion Brown at pick 106 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109 Rnd4 Tommi Hill
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Tommi Hill in the 109th pick, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick120 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A conviction pick on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 120th pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kyren Lacy
They reached a country mile for Kyren Lacy at Round 5, Pick 6, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick167 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
A real head-scratcher, Tyler Baron in the 167th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168 Rnd5 Zach Rice
A big swing on Zach Rice at pick 168, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick180 Rnd6 Mason Taylor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mason Taylor in No. 180, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick223 Rnd7 Makari Paige
The board had Makari Paige higher than pick No. 223, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick229 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
A tidy little value on Tristan Leigh in slot 229, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238 Rnd7 Stone Handy
They reached into another round for Stone Handy, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
