With interior defensive lineman and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They banked enough surplus on Walley to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
